It would be very welcome to provide bitmap font support within jEdit ad there are
MANY bitmap fonts that are appropriate for programming (PCF fonts under Linux and
FON fonts under Windows).
For example I would love to be able to use the Smoothansi font (from the Artwiz font
package at http://artwizaleczapka.sourceforge.net/) within jEdit. It this a shortcoming
of the JVM? If so can it be dealt with?
Thanks, and keep up the great work!
P.S.: I work on Ubuntu Linux usually and sometimes (rarely) on Windows. The Artwiz
fonts were (until recently) available only for Linux (PCF format). Now there's also
a Windows version at http://xoblite.net/files/bbfontpack_windows_20030829.zip (although
for some reason without the Smoothansi font). I attached a modified version of the
Smoothansi font to properly display bold characters.

Logged In: YES user_id=1963819 Originator: NO I'd quite like to use the FixedSys font in Windows, if this will enable that... I'm trying to migrate to jEdit from Eclipse, which does support bitmap fonts. Also, many TTF fonts, even the really nice ones, still look awful in jEdit when used over RDP sessions or when anti-aliasing is not available, so bitmap fonts are highly desired. |
